February 21, 2021 - Hummel Airport with Mugsy |
||||||
It was a nice day for late February so Mugsy and I decided to go flying. The plan was to meet at St. Mary's Airport -- which has the lowest avgas prices in the area -- and then go to lunch. The problem is there aren't too many airport restaurants south of DC. But there is Hummel Airport so we decided to go there. I was surprised to see a light dusting of snow remained on Rocky Point Golf Course (just to the southeast of Essex Skypark). |

Passing Miller's Island, which isn't really an island.

||||||
More snow dust over on the Eastern Shore north of Rock Hall.
The snow dust makes an otherwise dismal winter scene pretty.

Cruising down the eastern shore.
Passing overhead Ragged Island which has a runway. There used to be a large house between the tennis court and pond but it is gone now. It's hard to see in this picture but a little house -- maybe 1/20th the size -- has been built on the three-pronged pad.
Mugsy and I had a nice lunch at the Pilot House Inn, then mounted up and prepared for takeoff.
Winging our way north back to St. Mary's, then northeast to Easton.

A good shot of the back of Mugsy's head with Cambridge in the background.
